The SDNY website now includes a banner stating that “SDNY will remain open for business as usual during the government shutdown.”  However, Chief Judge Preska has issued a Standing Order that all civil cases (except forfeiture actions) in which the SDNY U.S. Attorney’s Office is a party are stayed until DOJ funding is restored.  The U.S. Attorney’s Office applied for the Order in a letter today, and indicated that most AUSAs in the Civil Division have been furloughed.
